Warm Up

Max Goff will zip his mail to Denver by quick jet.

Rick is due by six and may go to the city with me.

Jacques Voltz kept the new forms by the tax guide.

Lewis Quick will work the squad if Wes Quim quits.

If she turns the handle to the right, it may work.

Timed Writing I

It is important for me to learn to force two to four letters close together in time. If I can cut the time between them, my skill will increase.

The size of the word and the sequence of its letters may determine just how fast I can move to handle it. To cut time should get next attention.

Timed Writing II

If you are moving with more control now than you were last week, you can be quite certain that you have shown growth in typing. You can develop as fast as you desire if you will work with zest.

For the next several days, put a little more effort into your work; then check the increase in speed. You will find that just a bit more effort day by day can result in a much higher skill.

Timed Writing III

As you type, read the copy carefully; but do more than that. Think each work, also. Focusing on a word may aid in stroking easy words as units.

You must realize that some words have letter sequences that are hard to type. These are often traps for a new typist who does not yet know them.

Your major purpose now should be to learn to type the easy words faster and to lower the speed for hard ones. Learn to vary your speed expertly.

Timed Writing IV

I now know how to type, I know where all the letters are. I am also able to type each of them without looking. Before long I shall be a typist.

My next step is to develop good form so that I can cut the waste time. This is quite a job, I realize; however, if I keep trying, it could help.

Spacing

Space once after punctuation except after a period used within a.m. or p.m., geographic abbreviations, or academic degrees.
